The original intaglio depicts Fortuna, the Roman goddess of fate and prosperity, a powerful guardian whose blessings extended beyond luck alone, uniting success, foresight, and victory within a single image.
Engraved gemstones depicting figures were often worn as personal amulets and signet rings, serving both practical and symbolic purposes. Beyond sealing documents, they were believed to offer divine protection and invoke the favour of the gods in everyday life.
The replica was carved in Lapis Lazuli, and set in 14K gold and embellished with a blue sapphire.
